Cheng Xu

Interaction Designer &
Creative Technologist

Hello! I’m a Senior Interaction Designer at Motorola Mobility, Chicago, working on user interface for consumer electronics. We conceptualize, communicate, and prototype experience on various hardware platforms.

Before Motorola, I was an Imagineer at Disney Research, Pittsburgh, where I researched tactile modality, built prototypes  and published results on our evaluations.

I am also a Maker. I enjoy making things, from circuits to pastry, from games to CNC machines. I am especially interested in making things that enable other people to make their own. I innovate through making.

It’s been extremely fun working at the intersection of technology and design. Some re-occurring themes of my projects are: interactive digital fabrication, customization, and modularity.
